I'll overwhelm 'serious boxer' Paul - Anthony Joshua
Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight round contest which will be shown live on the streaming platform.
British boxer Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "break" the American as the pair came face-to-face to build hype for the upcoming bout.
Former twice world boxing king Anthony Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, theoretically, a huge disparity - at Miami's arena on December 19th.
Fighter's Attitude
"I plan to break his face and damage his physique. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35 years old, declared.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.
"I intend to genuinely try to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."
Civil Interaction
Despite those words, a composed Joshua and social media star Paul - normally recognized for his theatrics - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.
Paul rather attacked former Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and labeled him "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian rejected a bout proposal.
Targeting Fury
Joshua, meanwhile, criticized British opponent Fury - and rejected a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul victory.
"[Paul] is better than Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer stated.
"I respect him for that."
Legitimate Opponent
In spite of saying he intends to punish Paul, Joshua chose not to speak negatively about his rival's boxing ability.
"Jake is a credible opponent," he said.
Paul's History
Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has primarily boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since turning professional.
He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in last year.
Financial Attraction
Nevertheless, the relative newcomer is still one of the sport's greatest financial successes, consistently making huge financial rewards.
Prediction and Belief
The 28 year old predicted a stoppage in round four or five and stated he would stop the much-anticipated match between Joshua and Fury, which is allegedly under discussion for 2026.
"It's going to be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul declared.
Physical Disparity
As the two fighters met for the usual confrontation, with their size difference evident, it drove home just how improbable this whole event is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is really happening.
